NASA unveils Moonbase Alpha video game free on Steam

NASA offers first video game on Steam

NASA has announced the first game to come from its Learning Technologies project and marks a proof of concept for NASA. NASA is using the game to show how it can use a 3D game to inspire, educate and engage.

The concept of the game is that the player is an astronaut living on the moon. A meteor strike damages life support and cuts the flow of oxygen to the settlement.

The game has players trying to repair the damage to life support while trying to command the lunar rover, mobile repair units, and use resources wisely. The game was built using the Epic Unreal Engine 3. You can download the game free on Steam right now.
