QNAP QMobile app adds iPhone/iPad streaming

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Jul 6, 2010 4:04 pm

QNAP has announced that it has a new app that will let users of the Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch stream music, pictures, and video from their QNAP NAS server to their Apple device. The content can be streamed to the Apple device anywhere the user has internet access.

The new firmware update that allows the steaming to the devices is the 3.3 NAS management update utility. The app itself is called the QMobile app. Using the new firmware and the app the user can stream all sorts of content.

The user can remotely browse content on the NAS server and play music and playlists that they create remotely. Multimedia files viewed on the device can be placed in a favorites folder for easy access later. The firmware and the app needed for the feature are both free updates.
