LG announces Android based tablet

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jul 6, 2010 3:52 am

LG released another tidbit today alongside their new UK Optimus phones. LG is also planning to jump on the tablet bandwagon by the end of the year. This unnamed tablet is said to be shipped running Android 2.2, which has brought some to question whether this tablet is replacing the UX10 tablet that LG brought to Computex running Windows 7 Home Premium or whether it will come out alongside it.

The press release did not mention any pricing or specs at this time. The prototype at Computex ran on an Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, SD memory card slot, and a 120Gb hard drive. We'll see whether the Android version keeps these specs or is more streamlined which would make sense running the Android platform.
