Sony cuts prices on their e-reader lineup

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Jul 6, 2010 2:15 am

Sony has finally jumped on the e-reader price drop bandwagon today by slashing the prices on all three of their current models. The Pocket Edition sees a 20 dollar cut from $169 to $149 USD, the Touch Edition drops from $199 to $169, and the high end 3G Daily Edition gets the biggest cut; dropping $50 from $349 to $299.

While these cuts do bring prices within shouting distance of the bigger named Kindle and Nook, the feature sets of the head to head models pricewise still leave Sony behind. The Kindle and the Nook do everything that the Daily can do for 50 dollars cheaper, which leave some to wonder what would drive buyers that do their homework to choose any of the Sony models. It is a step in the right direction, though.
