Samsung Mobile Display tweaks AMOLED production for better screens

By: (more) | Displays & Projectors News | Posted: Jul 1, 2010 3:04 pm

Samsung Mobile Display makes all sorts of screens of their mobile phone industry. It also makes some of the more desirable AMOLED screens that some devices use.

SMD is talking up a new production line that will use new tech to improve the screen performance and the yields. The line is going to use a new substrate size that will allow for better yields and for larger screen sizes.

SMD will also be able to improve the white performance of current screens from 20cd/A today to 40cd/A on the new line. The life of the AMOLED panels will drastically increase as well from 50k hours to 100k hours while power consumption drops from 62W to under 30W in the future. The new line will go online in 2011.
