OCZ cater to wider audience with 1.8-inch SSDs

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Jun 18, 2010 10:27 am

OCZs SSD line-up is reaching out into further market segments with the release of some new 1.8-inch models for ultra-thin laptops, netbooks, nettops and tablet PCs.

OCZ has launched two new series with the smaller form factor; the Onyx and Vertex 2. OCZ maintains use of the SandForce controller for the Vertex 2 1.8-inch drives and promises identical performance to the 2.5-inch version of the same series. The 1.8-inch models come in capacities of 60, 120 and even 240GB.

Shifting focus to the Onyx 1.8-inch series, these drives are more aggressively priced for mainstream consumers and come in 32 and 64GB capacities. They are Indilinx powered drives and deliver up to 145MB/sec transfer rates.
