Samsung has a lot of SSDs that are on the market and the company makes a lot of NAND flash memory for other uses. Samsung has announced its latest SSD that packs in lots of storage and its new toggle-mode NAND.

The SSD has 512GB of storage space and will go into mass production next month. The SSD is aimed at the premium notebook market. Samsung says that the drive can reach read speeds of up to 250MB/s and write speeds of up to 220MB/s.

The drive uses a special Samsung controller for the toggle-mode NAND that is also energy efficient. Samsung claims a notebook using the drive can last up to an hour longer per charge than machines using other storage mediums. The SSD also has TRIM support and 256-bit AES encryption.
