HTC EVO 4G crushes Sprint opening day sales records

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jun 7, 2010 11:26 pm

We all expected the EVO 4G to sell a ton of units when it was launched on Friday, but even Sprint had to be boggled at the numbers that have been gobbled up by the public. They announced today that the EVO sold more units during its first day of availablilty than the now #2 and #3 sellers, the Palm Pre and the Samsung Instinct, did during their first three days on sale combined.

With such a huge demand for the EVO Sprint has seen some shortages but are doing their best to get restocked. This is not a problem that only the EVO is seeing; new phones like the Droid Incredible are seeing similar backordering of at least 2-3 weeks. No official sales numbers have been released by Sprint at this time, but with ever expanding 4G coverage which is reported to triple by the end of 2010 even more people may flock to the EVO as their handset of choice.
