It's been years since I talked about anything from Compaq. I had a Compaq computer back in the day and thought it was really cool at the time. Since HP bought Compaq, we don't hear much from them anymore.
Compaq has announced a new notebook called the Presario CQ62Z that starts at a netbook-like price tag of $379.99. The base machine gets an AMD V-Series V120 CPU running at 2.2GHz. For that low price, you also get a 15.6-inch screen, 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, and ATI HD 4250 graphics.
Machines can be optioned up to much more than that starting price with up to 500GB of storage, up to 4GB of RAM, and AMD Phenom II 3-core CPUs. Blu-ray is also an option. The same 15.6-inch LED backlit LCD with 1366 x 768 resolution is used on all of the machines.
