Apple launches HTML5 and open standards web page on official site
Comment | Print | Email to a Friend | Font Size: AAApple and Steve Jobs are ardently against Flash to the point where I sometimes wonder if Adobe might have run over Jobs' dog at some point. Jobs maintains that Flash is proprietary and Apple wants to use open software.
The problem for Jobs is that many Apple device users want Flash and some people like to point out things that they thing HTML5 doesn't do as well as Flash. Apple has now added a page to its website to show off some demos of what HTML5 will do.
The demos look good to me and HTML5 and Flash seem to be even in terms of usability for a user standpoint. I really don't care what format my iPad video pays in as long as it plays and I don't get those stupid video player needs updated messages.
