Matias Duarte leaves Palm for Android

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: May 28, 2010 2:10 am

In a fairly large coup for Android, it was reported today that Matias Duarte, the team leader of the group behind webOS, has left for Android to take the reins as their User Experience Director. webOS has been hailed as arguably the most intuitive and user-friendly of the new touchscreen mobile devices, and he will be bringing his know-how to the people at Android, which bodes well for the already gaining in popularity Android devices.

One of the gripes about Android has been that the interface isn't as attractive and smooth as some of their competitors. Matias' work with the Sidekick, Helio, and at Palm has been very popular even if the devices themselves did not catch on as much as their respective companies would have liked. This move comes as a blow to Palm, who was recently bought out by HP. Considering that where the director goes, others in the team are sure to follow, Palm and HP may have to scramble to replace these important cogs in the system.
