Droid Incredible shortages continue

Samsung AMOLED display shortages the culprit

| Mobile Devices News | Posted: May 26, 2010 10:08 pm

The Droid Incredible has arrived with rave reviews from most outlets. Unfortunately, not everyone who wants one has been able to get their hands on one, as waiting lists are growing and some pre-orders still have not been shipped.

Lowell McAdam of Verizon Wireless told people at the Barclays Capital conference today that component shortages were to blame for the unavailability of the Incredible. The major component to blame seems to be the Samsung AMOLED display which is becoming a popular display for many high end smartphones being released. McAdam reported that with enough supply that twice the number of Incredibles could have been sold.

It's being reported that these shortages could last into next year, which means getting your hands on the latest phones will continue to be quite a challenge.
