iPad banned at Yankee Stadium

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: May 25, 2010 3:11 am

A report today was released that fans attending baseball games at Yankee Stadium in New York will have to leave their iPads at home. The stadium has a "no laptops" policy, which is a little odd since WiFi is available all over the complex.

The argument came about when a fan attempting to attend a Red Sox/Yankees game at the complex was turned away due to having the iPad with her. Under the name of Spacekatgal on IGN Forums, she posted about this, later admitting she re-entered with the iPad stashed in her jacket.

According to Yankee Stadium rules, any electronic device, outside of cellphones, are not allowed in the complex. I guess if you feel the need to check your Facebook or email during a ballgame in the Bronx, you'll have to invest in a smartphone. I for one am a big fan of the policy, but I may just be one of a dying breed who go to a ballgame to actually eat a hotdog and watch the game instead of texting my friends and looking for a gourmet meal.
