Intel unshackles Atom N550 CPU from screen size limits
I never liked the fact that Intel limited the screen size manufacturers could use with Atom processors to 10.2-inches for the most part. Intel appears to have realized that netbooks may not be the death of sales of its higher-end processors.

Intel has announced that it will be lifting the limitation on screen sizes with the upcoming Atom N550 CPU. The CPU will be allowed to be used inside machines with screens of up to 12.1-inches.
When the CPU is used, the machine will need to have at least 1GB of RAM and either a 32GB SSD or a 250GB HDD. I bet the change is a result of increasing pressure from competition with AMD who is doing well in the ultraportable market right now.
