S3 make a wee bit of noise yet again; Chrome eH1 detailed
We haven't heard from the once dominant GPU maker S3 in quite a while. In recent years they've been super quiet, but still manage to come out of the woods once in a while with something interesting for niche market segments.
Today brings yet another occassion to show face, introducing their forthcoming Chrome eH1 discrete VGA card using the Chrome 5000-E GPU.

This card is designed with harsh environments and industrial grade systems in mind, offering solid reliability and longetivity whilst giving decent multimedia support incl. DX10.1, HD video decoding at the hardware level and a range of connectivity options incl. DVI, HDMI, DIsplayPort and CRT.
"S3 Graphics continues to introduce new graphics technologies to the embedded market, adding a fanless, ultra low power, and feature-rich product to our growing portfolio of embedded solutions," said Dr. Ken Weng, GM for S3 Graphics. "Our new Chrome eH1 card makes PC grade product features accessible to the broader embedded arena, allowing our embedded partners to easily incorporate the very latest multimedia technologies in their product offerings."
