Nine 2TB hard drives thrown into the pit - Who's fastest?

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Apr 20, 2010 6:22 am

While SSDs have gained a lot of momentum and are becoming more widely adopted by the day, there's a big big need for high capacity mechanical drives as well and 2TB ones are all the rage for storage buffs.

There is, however, quite a variety of 2TB drives on the market nowadays and from a performance standpoint it's difficult to know for sure which one is strongest in this dept.

The folks at Hot Hardware give a helping hand in making your choice on which to go for if performance is also important to you. They've gotten hold of no less than nine 2TB drives (along with a 1TB for comparative measure) from the likes of WD, Seagate and Samsung which they throw in the pit to see which fares strongest in overall performance.

A well recommended read for those of you looking to expand your storage with the largest available capacity HDDs currently on the market.
