New law makes Caller ID Spoofing a crime

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Apr 16, 2010 2:26 am

You know something is really wrong with the world when you have to pass a law banning Caller ID spoofing. I mean I can see it as a joke but apparently it has been used by telemarketers and others that are of a more malicious mindset.

Although the new ban covers CallerID fraud and using any device "to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information" it will still allow you to block your own outgoing ID, you just cannot replace it with another number.
