If you aren't interested in the iPad, but want an interesting eReader, the Alex from Spring Design ships today. The eReader has two screens with a large e-ink unit for reading and a smaller color LCD for other uses.
The Alex sells for $399, which is too close to the iPad price for me to take it over the Apple offering with more capability. The Alex has 3G connectivity, WiFi and supports most eBook formats.
Other features include a microSD card slot and more. Versions of the Alex for other countries will be announced soon.
