Newtek to give OpenCL based Core to Lightwave 3D

By: (more) | Software News | Posted: Apr 6, 2010 10:42 pm

In other OpenCL and GPGPU news we have also heard that Newtek is working on a new engine for their suite of 3D animation products. The new Engine called "Core" will be OpenCL based and will also be able to take advantage of the latest and greatest from both AMD and NVIDIA.

We were not able to get more information on which side of the house the new engine is being built for (meaning is this vectorized code or not) but one thing is certain with the introduction of 4K and up digital video products the need for this kind of power behind the tools we use is there.

No word on exactly when this will hit, although we do know there is an active beta underway.
