If you like the idea of a tablet computer, but couldn't bring yourself to jump on the iPad, the HP Slate may be more your style. We knew the machine would run Windows 7 and had features the iPad lacked, but specs and pricing were unknown.

Engadget reports that the Slate has been confirmed for June launch at €400. Straight conversion makes that right under $550 here in the states. We will have to wait for official pricing; many expect the Slate to come in at the same starting price as the iPad.
The device will have an Atom CPU, Windows 7, USB connectivity, a memory card reader, and a webcam all built-in. That will make it appealing to many, but it looks larger than the iPad to my eyes.
