Maingear SHIFT gets Core i7 980X and more
Maingear unveiled its SHIFT every day supercomputer a while back and the machine is quite impressive on paper. The boutique computer maker has now announced that the machine has been updated to include the Intel Core i7 980X and some other goodies.

The new 980X is a 6-core processor that runs at 3.33GHz that can execute 12 threads in parallel. The machine has has SATA 6Gbps connectivity and uses the new Crucial RealSSd C300 storage device to hit 335MB/s on sustained reads.
The beast of a computer also gets USB 3.0 connectivity for fast external storage. That is a lot of power in a machine that can also be had with liquid cooling and more. The SHIFT starts at $1,799.
