HP has been offering its line of MediaSmart servers for a while now. The servers are perfect for the home user who has lots of digital content that they use and store across their network. HP has announced a new addition to the server that can be downloaded free.

The new software is the HP MediaSmart Expander for TiVo. The app lets MediaSmart owners that have TiVo DVRs transfer shows to and from the DVR and the server. DVR recordings on the server can also be managed directly.

Once shows are transferred to the server, they can be sent to any computer on the network for viewing. The new software works on the MediaSmart EX90, EX495, and the HP Data Vault.
