Acer Aspire AS5740 and AS7740 notebooks debut

Acer is working hard to move up the list of the world's largest computer makers and is launching lots of new notebooks to gain more customers. The company has debuted new notebooks at CES that are designed for the new Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors.

The new machines include the Aspire AS5740 and the AS7740 notebooks. The AS5740G-6979 will start at $749.99 and pack in a Core i5-430M CPU, a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 LCD, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB HDD. Graphics are via ATI Radeon HD5650 with 1GB of VRAM. The 4400mAh battery promises four hours of battery life.

 

The Aspire AS7740-5142 will start at $479.99 as well with a Core i3-330M processor, a 17.3-inch screen with a 1600 x 900 resolution, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB HDD. Graphics are via Intel GMA HD and the machine has a 6-cell battery good for 3.5 hours. Both of the machines will ship on January 17.
