The most wonderful time of the year is popularly known as Christmas for kids and many people around the world. The most wonderful time of the year for geeks and computer fans is CES though. This is the time of year when we see all the sweet new gear and get an idea what tech will be big for the year.

This year we have seen some cool notebooks come from the show. Gateway has unveiled a new notebook this week at the show that packs a DVD burner into a small ultraportable platform called the EC14D.

In addition to the optical drive, the machine sports an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution screen and an Intel SU4100 ULV processor. The notebook also has Windows 7 Home Premium, a 320GB HDD, and 4GB of RAM. Power comes from a 6-cell lithium-ion battery. The machine will ship later this month for $629.99.
