Alereon NoWire laptop kit sends video to TV from laptop with no wires

By: (more) | HT & Movies News | Posted: Jan 6, 2010 5:50 pm

CES 2010 - I have sat in front of my computer or notebook on more than one occasion wishing I could easily get the video from the computer to my big TV in the living room. I would love to watch my favorite Hulu shows on the big screen rather than my computer.

Alereon has unveiled a product at CES called the NoWire Laptop top HDTV Extender kit. The kit uses UWB connectivity to stream video from your laptop to your TV. The kit uses a small USB transmitter for the laptop and a HDMI receiver for the HDTV.

The device can send 720p resolution video up to 30 feet away and supports UWB Band Groups 1, 3, and 6. That means the device will work globally. The Alereon solution won't be offered directly to consumers. It is being offered to OEMs starting in Q1 2010.
