OLPC unveils XO 3.0 design

By: (more) | Laptops & Netbooks News | Posted: Dec 29, 2009 6:14 pm

The OLPC started off trying to bring a laptop to market that could be sold for under $100 in bulk to developing countries for educational use. The machines never materialized at the low price point, but they did come to market eventually.

The OLPC has now unveiled its latest XO design with version 3.0. Version 2.0 was a two-page machine that looked sort of like an electronic book. The new design is a single page device made from a single piece of plastic.

The plastic used is unbreakable and has no holes in it according to the OLPC. Details on the machine are unknown and the OLPC offers no specifications other than to say the machine would be available in 2012.
