Poor ol' Dell is getting beat up on in the global PC market. It sat in the second spot behind HP for a long time until Acer booted it out this year. Now Asus and Toshiba are eyeing a partnership to oust Dell from its third spot.
There is little information available on the rumor, but according to Asus chairman Jonney Shih, gobbling up Toshiba's PC business is being eyed as a target. Toshiba has an estimated 5% of the global PC market right now.
That amount would be enough to put Asus above Dell and send Dell's ego a bit lower in the global market. PC shipments are expected to climb for the holiday season, so this would be a good time for Asus to buy.
