Intel creating new Tower Style cooler for Core i9
Intel could finally be moving away from the old round rickety cooler for their new Core i9 series. With the launch of the Core i7 CPUs Intel started including Thermal Right Coolers for their high-end CPUs in addition to the more traditional round cooler that we all are used to seeing.
For many this was just seen as giving reviewers the tools to achieve better overclocks. But to a few it was seen as a sign. When I first saw those coolers it was a sign that Intel might know that its traditional cooler was reaching the limits of its cooling ability.
Well, it seems my suspicions are at least slightly confirmed as we find out that Intel is working on a vertical style cooler for the i9. They seem to be moving towards the designs they use with older Xeons but without the deafening fans that were used. Early pictures of the new cooler are not exactly pleasing to the eye but we can certainly hope that Intel will add some style to it before its final release.
