AMD Athlon II X4 620 pops up for sale on Newegg

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Sep 8, 2009 4:51 pm

We all had a good chuckle at Intel when the Core i5 750 and P55 mainboards went on sale in Taiwan weeks before the official launch. Sites that did not get review samples were suddenly popping up with evaluations and overclocking guides overnight.

Well it seems that Intel is not the only one that can fall victim to this. However, this time it is not the Taiwan Computer market that has the new and unannounced CPU from AMD. No this time it is Newegg.com and the CPU is the Athlon II X4 620.

At a time when NDAs are probably going out to sites we find this new CPU listed as in-stock and priced at $125.99. This is quite a bit less than Intel's new Core i5 but how it compares for performance is anyone's guess at the moment. But as it has no L3 Cache (at least none enabled) this could be a major hindrance in terms of performance.

I suppose we will find out soon enough now that you can buy these.

Of course NewEgg realized their mistake and have pulled the ad at the time of this writing.
