Intel has just let loose its latest mainstream desktop platform based around Lynnfield and the P55 chipset.

Two socket LGA1156 processors have been launched today, the Core i7-870 operating at 2.93GHz and the Core i5 at 2.66GHz. Then of course there is the mass of supporting P55 motherboards doing the rounds, many of which we've seen in sneek previews leading up to the launch over the past few months.
