Additional Confirmation that GT300 is taped out

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Jul 30, 2009 6:39 pm

In another event of "we told you earlier" we have more confirmation that nVidia is indeed closer to releasing the GT300 than previously told.

It is now coming out that the GT300 has been taped out. The exact timeline or date when this was completed has not been released but it is now known that it is.

The new conformation comes from an interesting source; Charlie Demerjian from Semi Accurate. Previously I had mentioned that my sources were saying a late Q4 2009 launch was very likely. Of course depending upon when the GT300 actually did tape out will give us a better clue as to what scale the launch will be. If it was very recently we could see something like the 9800 GX2, with just enough products to make the "retail" line. If it was some time ago we could see a full scale launch.

In the end we will need to do a little more digging to get more information. But I would rather see competing products from both ATi and nVidia than a single sided market.
