32nm Clarkdale hits 4GHz on air

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Jul 22, 2009 5:27 pm

Coolaler has been at it again; this time with a 32nm Clarkdale. According to his website, he has managed to take a Clarkdale all the way to 4GHz with nothing but air cooling.

The CPUz shots show a socket 1156 Nehalem CPU running at a cool 4008.1MHz (160.3MHz x 25). It also shows that the voltage is 0.832 but that is one part of CPUz that is not particularly accurate.

Still this is good news for the 1156 CPUs as it shows a healthy potential for overclocking. This is an area where AMD has recently gotten a good deal of attention. If Intel can pull off a good CPU with some room for "tweaks" they could steal some of that back.
