Apple blames cases for discolored iPhones

By: (more) | Cases, Cooling & PSU News | Posted: Jul 10, 2009 6:59 pm

Ok, Ok, Time for some Apple news! After hearing about how new iPhones are overheating and becoming discolored; we are now hearing that it is not the phone but the cases.

Honest, this is what Apple is saying now. The recommendation is to clean the back of your phone with some alcohol, get a better (apple recommended) case and be done with it.

Now, here is the question I have to ask. If it is the cases, why was this not an issue with the white 3G and why did Apple update the operating temperature range after hearing about the issue?

I was not able to get an answer for either question from Apple. Something else to ponder; if the iPhone is getting hot enough to cause the dye in the case to transfer to the back of the phone then I am sorry but it is still too hot. But that is ok really, they did put in a faster CPU, an extra graphics Chip (the powerVR) and more memory we can expect more heat. I would just like Apple to admit that the new phones run hotter than the last generation.
