The Sony Walkman just celebrated its 30th anniversary, the device that sparked the portable music revolution.

Few will probably remember the launch of the Walkman, the first portable cassette player to come to the market. It was an overnight success and owners faced wait times of up to two months due to the massive demand.
Eventally the Walkman evolved to play CDs and those that are listening to their iPods and Zunes right now have Sony to thank for sparking the boomb of personal, portable music. The Walkman may no longer be king of the portable music market but without it we most certainly wouldn't have the devices we use today.
