PNY Introduces Optima High Speed SSDs

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Jun 16, 2009 5:36 am

PNY is taking another stab at the SSD market, this time launching the Optima High Speed SSD series.

PNY hasn't done anything new with SSDs since 2007, so it is definitely time for a product refresh from them. The new Optima SSDs are said to push 220Mb/s and 200Mb/s for read and write speeds with the help of MLC-based memory.

Unfortunately PNY hasn't said what type of controller or which memory chips they are using in the drives. The Optima SSD will be available in both 128GB and 256GB flavors and should arrive later in the month. PNY has price the two drives at £309.99 and £599.99 respectively and will be backing the drives with a three year warranty.
