H1N1 swine flu concern for Taitra during big show

By: (more) | Posted: Jun 1, 2009 4:00 am

Computex Taipei 2009: I spent the morning checking out the Computex show area around Hall 1 in Taipei and one of the stand out points (besides half constructed booths with less than 24 hours before the show starts!) was the fact that Taitra is asking visitors of the show to wash their hands before entering the show area.

Obviously this is to help reduce the spread of H1N1 to Computex show goers. Taitra expressed concerned over the Mexican orientated flu strain and said that it may reduce the overall numbers of international guests coming into Taiwan for the annual computer show and second biggest in the world, only to CeBIT in Germany.

As I walked into the entrance of Hall 1, we saw signs indicating that we should wash our hands. I think most people will be in too much of a rush to even bother, but it is clear Taitra is taking the threat seriously and its obviously well prepared after the shocking SARS outbreak several years back, which postponed Computex by a few months.

Keep your hands clean people!
