Intel has already announced plans for the Core i7 975 EE CPU, running at 3.33GHz. However many have been wondering just what Intel is going to charge for the chip.

Intel Gives Core i7 975 A Price

The new chip will enter the market sometime around Computex this year and Intel says that the chip will cost $999. Intel has hinted that the Core i7 975 will be taking place of the 965 EE as the flagship chip, although it has not announced that the are discontinuing the 965 just yet.

They have however announced that they are discontinuing the Core i7 940, and this makes room for the rumored Core i7 950 CPU which should run at 3.06GHz, the same 133MHz increase that the i7 975 should have over the i7 965. It should hit the market right around the same price as the Core i7 940 it will replace.

Intel will continue shipping the Core i7 940 until December 4th for boxed units while stopping the tray chips a month earlier on November 5th. Orders will still be able to be placed for the Core i7 940 processor until September.
