Sapphire Bringing 1GHz Radeon HD 4890

Cranks the voltage up with ATOMIC

Sapphire is set to bring the first Radeon HD to come clocked from the factory at 1GHz on the core.

Expanding the ATOMIC line of cards, Sapphire will be bringing the Radeon HD 4890 ATOMIC
sometime next week. Other than the core being cranked up to 1GHz, Sapphire has also added their Vapor-X cooler, they have also upped the memory to an effective 4200MHz and increased the voltage.

To provide the extra juice, Sapphire's card features both a six-pin and eight-pin PCIe power connecter, while the stock card features just dual six-pin connectors. Hexus states that trying to power on the card with just two six-pin power connectors will fail.

All these tweaks make the Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 ATOMIC the fastest 4890 from the factory. A quick run through 3DMark06 shows the card scoring 12,535 at 1900x1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF.
