Intel Launches New Atom Processors

During the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, Intel senior vice president Anand Chandrasekher announced the launch of two new Atom processors.

 

The new processors in question are the Z550 and Z515 Atom processors. The Z550 marks a milestone for the Atom series of CPU's, bringing the clock speed up to 2.0GHz. Intel has managed to keep the in the under-3-watt power envelope.

 

Intel Launches New Atom Processors

 

The Z515 Atom processor utilizes the new Intel Burst Performance Technology. This allows the processor to have a dynamic frequency between 800MHz and 1.2GHz, while still keeping power consumption at 1.4W. Both processors should be on the market by the end of the month.
