It looks like Intel is getting ready to refresh its linuep for the summer and that will mean the introduction of two new Core i7 processors.

Intel Gearing Up For New Core i7 CPU's

The Core i7 975 will be the new flagship chip, and it will come clocked at 3.33GHz. As it will be replacing the Core i7 965 as the chip on top, the 975 will more than likely be an Extreme Edition processor. It will also take the $999 price point from the 965.

There will also be a Core i7 950 CPU, which will clock in at 3.06GHz and will effectively replace the 2.93GHZ 940 chip. The price for it will be $562.

There are also new Core 2 CPU's coming with the refresh. The quad-core Q8400 will come in both regular and an "S" version which for SFF PC's and will both be clocked at 2.66GHz. All of the above chips should be launched on May 31st.

A few other chips that serve the low/budget end of the lineup will also be getting price cuts. See the chart above that DigiTimes put together for the rest of the information.
