General Dynamics launches rugged notebook
The gang over at iTech News Net is showing off an interesting piece of hardware. This is the General Dynamics Itronix GD8000.
This new rugged notebook is something else; it is made of a polycarbonate casing a Magnesium Chassis and conforms to MIL-STD-810.
The GD8000 has some nice hardware under the hood too with a Core 2 Duo SL9400, 4GB of RAM, integrated 4500MHD graphics and 120GB hard drive.
you also get a 13.3-inch touchscreen display that can be read even in sunlight, an integrated GPS, WiFi, fingerprint reader, smartcard reader and built in cellular wireless card.
I think I just found the next laptop I want to take camping.

General Dynamics announced the new Itronix GD8000 notebook that takes rugged to the next level. The GD8000 has a Magnesium chassis and impact absorbing polycarbonate casing and meets MIL-STD 810F standard. It can withstand a drop from 42-inch, 30 gallons of water blown at 40 mph and operates in temperature from -22 degrees F to 140 degrees F.
