Apple to preview iPhone OS 3.0 March 17th

Will Apple's servers survive the actual update?

| Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Mar 12, 2009 7:17 pm

Looks like there will be a major update to the iPhone. This is in the form of Software version 3.0.

I can remember the last update from 1.0 to 2.0 and as such I think I will be staying away from the update like the plague for the first few weeks.

Once the fervor dies down and the Apple activation servers are back online we can look forward to some pretty cool stuff including an new SDK to throw a monkey wrench into all of the jailbreakers and third party app devs out there.

Apple plans an advance preview on March 17th for this new iPhone OS.

Apple to preview iPhone OS 3.0 March 17th

It's going down March 17th. Apparently, we'll get a sneak peak at the new OS, as well as a look at a brand new version of the SDK. Exciting stuff indeed, and we'll be there live at 10am PST (1pm EST) with the liveblog. Apple's calling this an "advance preview of what we're building," so we're not expecting anything ready to go as of the 17th, but hopefully this will allow developers to start building toward future functionality
