Samsung Chooses Via over Intel

By: (more) | Posted: Mar 10, 2009 4:13 pm

In the netbook wars it looks like Via might be getting back onto the battlefield.

Samsung has just announced a netbook using the Via Nano 1.3GHz CPU. The Nano has been off of the radar recently with all of the mud flying between Intel and nVidia. This is despite outperforming the Atom in a recent round of reviews.

The new Samsung book will be dubbed the NC20; will have a 12.1-Inch (1280x800) screen, 1GB DDR2 (only one slot for memory), a Via VX800 Chrome9 GPU and an 80 or 160GB HDD.

On the down side networking will only be 10/100 and wireless will be b+g not n.

Take a look here.

SAMSUNG NC20 is the new full size netbook which balances supreme mobility and convenience. It has a 12.1" WXGA (1280 x 800) wide screen display like normal 12.1" notebooks and a larger keyboard with a standard 18.5mm key pitch.
