Zotac could be building an Ion Desktop

By: (more) | Posted: Mar 5, 2009 7:00 pm

Zotac, one of the few remaining nVidia strongholds, may be building an Ion platform.

According to reports from CeBit Zotac are showing off an Ion based bow that looks very similar to the nVidia reference one that made its rounds on the Internet recently.

Although Zotac was showing the box off it seems they might not want to be the first ones out of the gate with the new green toy. As with many other manufacturers everyone seems to be waiting on a couple of the big players to see what they are going to do.

There was no mention of specs or pricing.

Zotac could be building an Ion Desktop

Zotac representatives have told us at Cebit that they are planning to bring Ion desktop platform, powered with 330 chipset to market, but we also heard that the company most probably won't be the first one.

Everyone who is interested in ion waits to see what will happen with some big names, who should be launching Ion platform shortly, and it it goes well, some people will get on with it.
