OCZ Is NOT Recalling PSU's

By: (more) | Cases, Cooling & PSU News | Posted: Mar 4, 2009 1:49 am

Yesterday we reported that some owners of OCZ EliteXstream PSU's were getting emails from ZipZoomFly! concerning a recall from OCZ. We have spoken with OCZ today on the issue and they say that there is no recall whatsoever.

OCZ Recalls EliteXstream PSU's

Ryan Edwards, Director of Product Management at OCZ, confirmed that the EliteXstream power supplies had just reached a standard End Of Life status and that there was either some confusion at ZipZoomFly! or that the new representative at OCZ working with ZipZoomFly! made an error.

OCZ is replacing the EliteXstream power supplies with the more efficient Z-Series PSU's which they are debuting at CeBIT this week.

I just talked to Ryan Edwards and confirmed there is no recall for any PSU's. There is a standard EOL on the EliteXStream because we are introducing some new products that are more efficient (Z-Series). I think there has been some confusion on the ZZF side or it could have come from our sales side, we have a new rep on the account, and EOL may have been confused with "recall."
