Microsoft says that the battery life will last about 30 hours of active gaming before you have to recharge. You will also be able to charge the mouse while continuing to use it with the charging cable.

Aside from from the wireless addition, the new mouse also utilizes Microsoft's BlueTrack technology. This will allow the mouse to track on virtually any surface and will track between 250 dpi and 4,000 dpi.

Retail price for the SideWinder X8 will set you back US$ 99.95.

"Many gamers have long desired a wireless gaming mouse that doesn't compromise on performance, and Microsoft delivers with the SideWinder X8 Mouse," said Bill Jukes, product marketing manager for Microsoft Hardware. "Combining the best tracking performance available with an innovative wireless solution, this mouse will change the way gamers perceive wireless performance."
