Core i5 processors in the flesh

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Feb 6, 2009 7:14 am

The first images of Intel's upcoming LGA 1155 and 1156 processors (known as Lynnfield and Havendale) have appeared on the web, these set for release sometime during Q3 this year as part of a new common system design Intel call the "Ibex Peak".

Where Core i7 is the cream of the crop, these are mainstream parts and are likely going to be branded as Core i5 series processors, with the possibilty of Fusion technology (CPU+GPU) being used for the first time by Intel with this series as well.

An LGA 1157 socket is also said to be coming, with supporting processors likely to be exclusive to the entry point for Intel's enterprise Xeon range.
