Silverstone's stealthy Raven RV101 previewed

By: (more) | Posted: Jan 29, 2009 6:37 am

We first got a glimpse of a special 'stealthy' looking case on the way from Silverstone late last year, dubbed the Raven RV01. Right from the word go, this case steers away from being the norm both in the aesthetics and functionality department and bit-tech were lucky enough to get hold of one to see if that's in its favour or not.

One significant change with this design is the 90 degree motherboard mounting rotation, meaning the external connections for your expansion cards end up facing directly out the top of the case as opposed to behind it. Silverstone say this is intended to facilitate cooling by having cool air pulled in at the bottom and exhausted directly out the top.

On the downside, cable management woes are plentiful and it brings a number of other issues into play which will leave you thinking twice before falling victim to its stealthy but somewhat alluring appearance.
