After Intel recently implemented price cuts to several of its Core 2 Quad range of processors, AMD is apparently being forced to respond by lowering prices on its latest Phenom II range, currently comprising the X4 920 and 940 Black Edition models.
The 920 was previously around the vicinity of $235 US at launch, but the promised price cuts will bring it down by as much as 20%; somewhere around the $195 mark. The 940 Black Edition is said to take an even bigger dive, shifting down from $275 US to around $225. It should be mentioned these prices are based on 1000 unit tray quantities.
Although it makes sense due to Intel's recent moves, AMD are yet to confirm the cuts and we're not sure exactly when we'll see the drops take place. But keep your eyes peeled and hold off on your purchase for now, if you can!
