Welcome dual-core Phenom - Athlon X2 7000 series

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Dec 16, 2008 6:38 am

Yesterday AMD took the wraps off a couple new Athlon branded dual-core processors aimed at the low-cost budget home PC crowd. But what's most interesting to note from these chips is that unlike all previous Athlon X2 processors, these chips are K10 based, sharing the same platform as AMD's Phenom range.

The two 65nm processors include a 2.5GHz Athlon X2 7550 and 2.7GHz Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition (with unlocked multi). Both chips have 256KB of L1 cache, 1MB of L2 cache and 2MB of shared L3 cache.

AMD has decided to kick off the Black Edition X2 7750 at $79, whilst it is restricting the lower spec'd X2 7550 to PC manufacturers at this stage.
